    Museum of Northern Arizona

    written by Common Jones

Flagstaff is a popular passover for visitors to the Grand Canyon and most other itineraries to the South West.  Which is excellent, because Flagstaff has a lot of cool, and interesting things to do and visit.  For those who are possibly rained out, or looking to get out of the sun for a bit, the Museum of Northern Arizona (MNA) offers a lovely stroll through a scenic historically themed building.  Complete with world class dioramas, cultural artifacts, a hiking trail, a central garden with fountain, and a sitting room with fireplace!  The MNA showcases native local artist’s work regularly, both current and ancient.  Paintings, tapestries, silverwork, pottery, and various other forms of expression frequent their galleries.  Entry is $12 per adult, $10 for youth, and free for children under 10 years old; with discounts for senior citizens and military personel, present and retired, available.  Their normals hours are from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 am – 5:00 pm on Sundays.  Details about times for special events, and when and what is in gallery can be found by looking at their calendar on their website here: https://musnaz.org/plan-your-visit/calendar-of-events/

Thirsty Thursday’s is a personal favorite, and a popular local event; where live music is offered through the evening in their courtyard.  The galleries are open, as are the shops for your pursuing.  And of course, beer and wine are available for purchase; bring cash!  The entry for Thirsty Thursday’s is $6 per person, though it’s free for MNA members.  Live music starts at 6 pm and the galleries are open till 8 pm.
